About

Middle & Leg is a UK marketplace for cricket bats, built around one idea: the right bat depends on how you bat, not on who paid for the shelf space.

No one pays to rank

Shortlists and the shop's recommended order are worked out from fit and published specs. No maker can buy a place, and commission rates never touch the score.

Real prices

We show the price the maker publishes on their own site, checked by hand, with the date we checked it.

Honest gaps

If a maker doesn't publish the weight or where the middle sits, we say so, and we ask them before you commit.

How we choose

The fitting asks ten quick questions. Your answers set a target: a size range, a weight range, where the middle should sit and a budget. Every bat we list is scored against that target, using the maker's published specs:

  • Budget counts most. Bats inside it score highest; a bat a little over can still be the stretch pick if it's worth it.
  • Size comes next. Women's and junior fittings start from bats made in those sizes.
  • Weight and middle: how close the bat is to the weight you like and where you score your runs.
  • Detail: bats with fuller published specs and bats used by professionals get a small boost, because there's more to go on.

Then we pick three headline picks: the safe pick (best fit in budget), the stretch (a step up, usually from a different maker) and the wildcard (something different, often from a small workshop). Each comes with plain-English reasons. Below them come seven more ranked matches, the next best scores with no more than two from any one maker, so you can see what else is close.

The money-back guarantee and returns

  • Ready-made bats come with a 14-day money-back guarantee. The 14 days start when the bat is delivered.
  • Pick it up, shadow-bat, check the balance and how it sits at your guard. Don't like it? Send it back and we refund what you paid in full. It needs to be unused: no ball contact, no oil, stickers and wrapping intact. That's what lets the next player buy it.
  • You pay the bat's full price upfront, before it's sent. Delivery is free on bats over £200. Return postage is yours, unless the bat is faulty or not as described.
  • Made-to-order bats, and ready-made bats you've asked us to have knocked in, aren't covered by the guarantee. Faulty bats are always covered by your legal rights.
  • Nothing is charged until we've confirmed the bat, the weight and the price with the maker, and you've said yes. If the confirmed price is higher than the one we showed, walk away. No charge.
  • Bats sold through UK shops are bought from the shop, on the shop's price and returns terms. We tell you both before you commit.
  • The details are in our terms.

Who does what

We're the shop front; the makers are the workshop. When you buy a bat sold maker direct, you buy from us: we take your payment and handle returns, refunds and any problems. The maker builds or picks your bat and sends it to you. You never have to chase a maker. Bats sold through UK shops are bought from the shop. More in our terms.

Early access

We're new. Right now we confirm every request with the maker by hand, usually within one working day. Listing a maker's bats doesn't mean they've partnered with us yet; where they haven't, we arrange your order with them directly, and tell you if anything's different before you pay.

Privacy

  • When you request a bat, we use your name, email, postcode and (if you give it) phone number to arrange that request, and share them only with that maker, or with the UK shop we ask on your behalf.
  • If you join a drop alert or tick the marketing box, we'll email you about new bats. Every email has an unsubscribe link. If you're under 18, please don't tick the marketing box.
  • When you pay, your card is handled by Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
  • We count page views and clicks with an anonymous ID stored in your browser. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, no selling data.
  • Your fitting answers stay in your browser unless you attach them to a request. So do the contact details you type into a request form, so you don't have to type them twice.
  • To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, email arthur@saint.work and we'll do it.
